Responsible Use of AI

Many people have real concerns about AI—and those concerns are valid. This page explains how Owner Advisor views and uses AI: to support people building real businesses, with human judgment still in charge.

AI supports human judgment

Owner Advisor is built on a simple belief: AI should help people build, work, and make better decisions—not replace the people who do that work. Progress comes from partnership. People bring judgment, responsibility, relationships, and values. AI can help with speed, structure, recall, calculations, and pattern review. The best systems use both.

Practical support for owner-led businesses

For a small business owner, useful AI may mean turning scattered notes into a clearer plan, seeing that a cash problem is really a pricing problem, or comparing tradeoffs before hiring, buying equipment, or taking on more work. AI can help organize the thinking. The owner still brings the judgment.

Owner Advisor is designed to help owners see patterns, compare options, and think through tradeoffs while keeping human judgment in charge. AI output may be incomplete or wrong. It is a starting point for your review, not a final answer.

Use AI to assist. Verify important work. Keep decisions human.

AI can help with the work, but responsibility stays with the person using it.

  1. Assist

Use AI to draft, organize, summarize, compare, and explore options. Treat the output as a starting point rather than a final answer.

  2. Verify

Check important output against source records, current facts, and approved rules before relying on it. Use a capable reviewer when the consequences are meaningful.

  3. Decide

Keep consequential choices with an authorized person. Involve a qualified professional when the decision requires legal, tax, employment, safety, insurance, credit, or other specialized judgment.

Do not let AI independently make or execute decisions about hiring, discipline, pay, safety, legal or tax matters, insurance, credit, major contracts, binding promises, or sensitive data.

The person who verifies the work may not be the person authorized to make the final decision.

This framework does not certify compliance, accuracy, privacy, security, or legal sufficiency. Using it does not mean Owner Advisor monitors every AI use, guarantees human review, or provides licensed professional advice.

Three-stage Assist, Verify, Decide framework showing AI helping with work, a capable person checking important output, and an authorized human retaining final decision authority.
AI may assist with drafting and analysis, but important output should be verified and consequential decisions should remain with an authorized person or qualified professional.

Efficient and proportionate model use

Owner Advisor routes work to appropriately sized models when practical. We use AI intentionally, avoid unnecessary processing, and do not use larger models where a smaller appropriate model can do the job well.

Responsible limits and professional boundaries

Owner Advisor supports decision-making but does not make final decisions for the owner. We will not use or support AI for unlawful, deceptive, discriminatory, harmful, or high-risk automated decision-making where a human should review the outcome.

Owner Advisor provides educational business guidance and decision support. It does not provide legal, tax, insurance, lending, payroll, HR, regulatory, accounting, audit, medical, cybersecurity, investment, or compliance advice. Detailed legal, privacy, and safety terms live in the site policies.

Our commitment

Small businesses deserve practical guidance that works best when owners stay in control. Owner Advisor is built to support your thinking, not override it. We will continue to refine how we use AI so it remains useful, honest, and aligned with what owner-led businesses actually need.
